App Privacy Policy

Applies to the Zendaily mobile application (life.zendaily.app) for Android and iOS.
Last updated: 22 July 2026 ยท Version 1

This policy covers the mobile application. The zendaily.life website is covered by our website privacy policy.

In short. Zendaily is designed so that your practice stays yours. What you write to the teacher, and what it remembers about you, is stored on your device โ€” not on our servers. You can use the entire app without creating an account.

1. What stays on your device

The notebook โ€” the lasting facts the teacher keeps about you, your practice log and the summary of your last conversation โ€” is stored in your phone's local storage. It is never stored on our servers.

It is transmitted only for the few seconds needed to answer a message, so the teacher knows what you told it before, and it is discarded as soon as the answer is returned. Our companion server keeps no record of it.

You can read, correct and delete every entry from the Notebook screen, and erase everything at once. That deletion is immediate and final: there is nothing to request from us, because there is nothing held elsewhere.

2. What we collect

Account (optional)

Only if you choose to create one. The app works fully without an account โ€” Continue without an account is on the first screen. If you sign in, Firebase Authentication (Google Ireland Limited) stores your email address, a user identifier and, depending on the method used, your display name and profile picture. We use these solely to recognise you across devices.

Anonymous usage statistics (only if you allow it)

Google Analytics 4 measures which screens are used and where the app fails. Nothing is sent before you have explicitly agreed: the app asks on first launch, and refusing is one tap, exactly like accepting. You can change your mind at any time in Settings โ†’ Privacy; turning it off also erases the identifiers already stored on the device.

These statistics never contain the content of your conversations or your notebook.

Conversations

The messages you send to the teacher are transmitted to our companion server to produce an answer. The server is stateless: it keeps no conversation history. The conversations themselves are stored on your device.

3. What we never do

  • No text is sent to any voice service. Speech is synthesised on your device โ€” by your phone's own engine, or by an optional voice pack you download. It works in airplane mode.
  • Sharing never includes your conversation by default. Sharing sends an invitation to the app. Including the content of an exchange requires a second, explicit choice, and the app says so plainly.
  • The notebook cannot be shared. There is no feature for it.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade your data. Ever, to anyone.
  • Reminders are local. The practice reminder is scheduled by your phone. No data leaves the device for it.
  • No advertising is shown in the app.

4. Sensitive content

A contemplative conversation can touch on difficult things. Two points matter here:

  • The teacher is not a medical or psychological service. It gives no diagnosis and no treatment advice.
  • If a message suggests serious distress, the app stops teaching and points towards real human help. It does not record or flag this anywhere, and no alert is sent to us or to anyone else.

6. Retention

  • Notebook and conversations: kept on your device until you delete them, or until you uninstall the app.
  • Account: kept until you delete it.
  • Usage statistics: 14 months, Google Analytics' default.
  • Messages sent to the companion server: not retained โ€” processed and discarded.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you may access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time. Most of this is immediate, from inside the app:

  • Delete your account โ€” Settings โ†’ Account โ†’ Delete my account. Permanent.
  • Erase your notebook โ€” Notebook โ†’ Erase everything. Immediate; nothing is held elsewhere.
  • Export your data โ€” Notebook โ†’ Export my notebook, in a readable format.
  • Withdraw consent โ€” Settings โ†’ Privacy, one tap.

For anything else, write to contact@zendaily.life. We answer within one month, as the GDPR requires. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority โ€” in France, the CNIL.

8. Children

Zendaily is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the app will ask for your consent again rather than assume it. The date and version at the top of this page always reflect the current text.
